Hello!

I am Dr. Rita Deyoe-Chiullán. Recently, I retired from the public schools where I had been preparing alternatively certified teachers after a career in education which included over 16 years teaching graduate education courses for teachers and administrators, about ten years teaching various elementary and middle school grades in both bilingual and regular education assignments  in the U.S.A. and a few years teaching in a binational bilingual private school as well as teaching ESL and linguistics in universities in Colombia, South America. I currently teach full-time at one university and part-time at another. I occasionally conduct private tutoring for TExES tests. My B.A. and M.A were in Speech/Linguistics and my Ph.D. (1976) was in Curriculum and Instruction, with a specialization in Multicultural/Bilingual Education. I currently provide two websites to assist those wishing to become teachers in Texas.

http://www.texestutor.com provides a link for those seeking assistance with the TExES teacher certification tests. http://www.maestrostexas.com  also provides the same link, as well as extensive information in Spanish and links to other sites for Spanish-speaking persons seeking information about how to become qualified to teach in Texas.

I have been preparing graduate students and alternative certification candidates for the ExCET and TExES tests ever since the tests began to be used in Texas and have developed unique and very successful strategies that have been rated the most successful available in the North Texas area by the many teachers who have attended my sessions over the past ten years or so.

Sessions I have designed and conducted include content and strategies for Bilingual, ESL, Generalist EC-4/4-8, English Language Arts/Reading, Special Education, Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) and selected other tests and domains. My training typically provides test-taking strategies and rehearsals with explanations using sample items similar to the tests. Given enough advance notice, I will adjust the content of a session based on your past test-taking experience or special needs of individuals or groups.

Fees
The
minimum fee is $50 per person for a 3-4 hour session for group sessions if there is sufficient enrollment to cover site expenses, materials preparation and my instruction fee (typically when 5 or more persons request the same training at the same time and we are able to conduct the training at a site where site use fees are minimal or not charged)..

For
individuals or smaller groups, I charge $50 per hour of my instructional time plus materials reproduction costs and site expenses (if incurred). The minimum amount of time I will agree to meet is an hour and a half ($75. for one person). Realistically, two hours is usually the minimum amount of time needed to give adequate preparation for a test, assuming we have spoken and you have studied what I recommend before we work together.

Expect to receive a brief response to your e-mail inquiry/request in 24 hours. Otherwise, please check to make sure the address you used was
maestrostexas@gmail.com and re-send your message.

Best Wishes for TExES success!
Dr. Rita Deyoe-Chiullan
